INTERNATIONAL TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATION
Yesterday, 5 October 2026, the Division Manager, Corporate Services in Nyarugenge District, Murebwayire Betty, joined teachers in celebrating International Teachers’ Day.
The event, held at Collège Saint André in Nyamirambo Sector, provided an opportunity to recognize and appreciate teachers for the knowledge and quality education they provide, their dedication to their profession, and their commitment to their work.
This year’s theme is: “Supporting Teachers, Protecting the Teaching Profession, Advancing It, and Shaping Our Future.”
In Nyarugenge District, the day was observed as an important occasion to reflect on, appreciate, and reaffirm the vital role of teachers in the country’s development.
Murebwayire Betty said: “No development can be achieved without quality education, and quality education cannot exist without competent teachers who are passionate about their profession and demonstrate professional conduct. The teaching profession is the foundation of all other professions; there is no doctor or leader who has not passed through the hands of a teacher. We sincerely thank you, our teachers, for your dedication, patience, and love with which you carry out this noble profession every day, nurturing the potential and talents of our students.”
During the event, five teachers who had reached retirement age were presented with certificates and commended for their commitment, hard work, and dedication throughout their careers.
Nyarugenge District has approximately 3,213 teachers employed on a permanent basis, including 2,090 teachers in public schools and 1,123 teachers in private schools.
