UNITY AND RESILIENCE MONTH

October is the annual month dedicated to commemorating Rwandan Unity and Resilience. It is an opportunity for all Rwandans to reflect on themselves, discuss the progress made in the journey towards unity and resilience, identify the challenges that remain, and explore ways to address them.

As guided by the Ministry of National Unity and Civic Engagement (MINUBUMWE), various activities have been planned throughout this month to further preserve and strengthen the achievements built on the choices made, including the choice to unite.

The theme for this year is: “Unity and Resilience: Our Choice.” The theme reminds Rwandans that all the achievements made as a country are built on unity.

MINUBUMWE indicates that a number of key activities have been planned across the districts, including awareness-raising sessions on unity and resilience. Special attention will be given to specific groups, including youth in schools, residents in rehabilitation centres, cooperatives, as well as other discussions under the Ndi Umunyarwanda programme.

In Nyarugenge District, the month dedicated to commemorating Rwandan Unity and Resilience was officially launched in Mageragere Sector on 1 October 2026. The Nyarugenge District Executive Administrator, Mr Ingangare Alexis, reminded participants that 1 October is the National Patriotic Day, and called upon everyone to continue embracing a mindset that promotes Rwandan values, strengthens unity and resilience among Rwandans, and avoids anything that could undermine them.
